Honestly, I'd choose Node-RED over Smartthings for flexibility. Keep in mind the learning curve.
SystemAdmin: I think is the problem is a driver conflict. Consider restarting the container and tell us if it helps.

Totally agree — I had the exact problem and got it working by recreating the automation. Took me forever to find that parameter.
